Sloths
There are different kinds of sloths. Some have 2 toes and some have 3 toes. All sloths are slow and 3-toed sloths are the slowest mammals on the planet!
A sloth has long, sharp claws. It hangs on to trees with its claws.

But sloths are great swimmers. They can drop from a tree into a river to swim across it.
Sloths munch on leaves, twigs, buds and some fruit.
Their bodies need a long time to turn food into energy. So sloths don't have much energy. That's why they go slowly.
Sloths snooze for about 15 hours per day. When sleeping, sloths often curl up in a ball in the fork of a tree.

Female sloths give birth to one baby a year.
The baby stays with the mum for about 6 months. It holds on to its mum's belly as she moves through the trees. This is an important time that helps the baby learn.
