River Otters
River otters live in rivers and on land. They are mammals.

Otters make their homes in holes in the riverbank.
Their home is called a den. They are shy animals. So they spend a lot of the daytime in their den.
This river otter is outside its den.
They go out at night to hunt. They like to eat all kinds of fish. Otters will also eat birds, frogs and even baby rabbits.
If you are lucky, you may see a river otter in England.
Many years ago there were lots of otters. Now there are not many, so they are protected.
